Personality Test

My friend Susan, Penless Writer, wrote about the Primary Colors Personality Test the she and her wonderful husband took. I thought it would be fun for Michael and I to take it.  Here are our results:

Michael came out as a green with red as his secondary color.  
Here is the description or red:

Very interesting stuff.  For the most part, I agree with it all.

Thanksgiving Challenge 11/18

Today I am thankful for my children having great groups at church. They both have made new friends and look forward to Wednesday  night all week long.  They have great teachers and great groups.

Thanksgiving Challenge 11/17

Today I am thankful for new friends and a mom's night out.  It's my first time going out since moving to OKC.  I had a wonderful time and can't wait for our next one!

Thanksgiving Challenge 11/13

I hate getting my hair cut. It honestly ranks up there with going to the doctor. (I have social anxiety and these are two of the situations I have trouble with!) For the last few years I have had one of two friends cut my hair, but, since they are both in Broken Arrow, I had to find a new person. Going to a new hairdresser is nerve wracking.  I usually spend the whole time on the way praying. Today was no different. I really needed my hair cut, but didn't know where to go, who I should have do it or how I should have it done. I care a lot about my hair for some reason. I don't wear makeup or do my nails most of the time, so my hair and clothes are really what "make" my look.  And no matter how nice my clothes may look, if my hair is awful, I feel like I look awful. 

I have needed a haircut for a few weeks.  Today was finally the day and I had looked and looked online for a good hairstyle. I hadn't really made up my mind as to what I wanted, although I had some ideas. I really need something that is "wash and wear" but has the option to look cute if I want to do more with it.  I printed out some ideas and headed to Supercuts. Of course, I prayed the whole way there.  (I know God knows the number of hairs on my head, so I knew he would want them to look nice too. ;-)

Very soon after getting there, I started to feel better. I had a nice lady sitting next to me (a prison guard just getting off work) who talked to me a few times and the one hairdresser that was there seemed very sweet and I liked her immediately.  After watching her interact with the prison guard, I liked her even more.  When it was my turn, she had time to listen to all my needs, gave me ideas and eventually gave me a great haircut.

Today I am thankful that God answers even the silly prayers that others might consider vain.  And thankful that I found a new hairdresser.   

Thanksgiving Challenge 11/12

Today I got to go to MOPS for the first time. It was such a wonderful time. I am thankful for the fellowship, time away, adult conversation, craft time and just generally wonderful time! I can't wait to go again!

Thanksgiving Challenge 11/11

is thankful for this special day....a day to thank the Veterans and my sweet grandmother's birthday. She would have been 102 this year.... I miss her so and can't wait to see her!  

Thanksgiving Challenge 11/10

Today is sort of a rough day....Michael is having a horrible day at work, the kids are screaming and fighting, we are having financial problems, no one feels good....so I am going to be thankful for little giggles.  Little giggles make my day. :-)

Thanksgiving Challenge 09

Last year I participated in South Breeze Farm's Thanksgiving challenge. I had forgotten about it until this morning and went looking for it again.  I am going to participate again, even though I am a little late. It is NEVER too late to cultivate thankfulness!

So, here are nine things I am thankful for, to get caught up!

1. I am thankful for my Heavenly Father and that he cares for me, day in and day out.
2. I am thankful for my loving husband who adores me and always tries his best.
3. I am thankful for my husband's job.
4. I am thankful for Brittany and her wonderful, sweet spirit. I am thankful for her heart towards God and others.
5. I am thankful for Emily and her compassion. She is so empathetic and always wanting to help others.
6. I am thankful for Kaedra and her miracle story. I am thankful that she is healthy and such a bundle of energy!
7. I am thankful for Ethan. I am thankful that he, too, is healthy and energetic and full of imagination!
8. I am thankful for my parents. I am where I am, in part, because of them.
9. I am thankful for the church we have been going to and their youth program and kids' program. Our kids are able to make friends and connect with people there.

I needed something to jumpstart me blogging again, so I thought I would try this!

When shopping at the grocery store, do you return your cart? Yes

  

In a social setting, are you more of a talker or a listener? Depends on who I am being social with. With FAITH and my friends I am a talker/listener. Most of the rest of the time I am a listener. 

Do you take compliments well? Hmmmm....Sort of well?

Do you play Sudoku? yes, love it 

If abandoned alone in the wilderness, would you survive? I'd like to think so 

Did you ever go to camp as a kid? Yes 

What was your favorite game as a kid? Rummy-O

Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you? No, but I really ought not to be dating. I am married, y'know. ;-)

Do you like to pursue or be pursued? neither, see above...

Use three words to describe yourself? at the moment: weary, frustrated, lonely....in general: blessed, joyous, forgiven

Do any songs make you cry? yes

Are you continuing your education?

Not in the "formal" sense but yes as far as viewing life as an education! (I like Susan's answer) I am constantly trying to learn more and learn new things! It can actually be very frustrating...I am a jack of all trades, master of none.

Have you ever taken pictures in a photo booth? yes

How often do you read books? Constantly, I am a chain reader. :-) and actually, I usually have more than one going at a time.

Do you think more about the past, present or future? the present and future.

What is your favorite children's book? hard to say. I like a lot and am growing tired of a lot.  I love Shel Silverstein.

What color are your eyes? Green

Where is your dream house located? around my family, preferably by water and/or mountains.

If your house was on fire, what would be the first thing you grabbed? our lock box.

When was the last time you were at Olive Garden? In Overland Park, KS meeting Michael's childhood friend. I think that was September last year. I didn't get to talk to him, however, because my littles kept me quite busy on my side of the table. 

Where was the furthest place you traveled today? Tinker Federal Credit Union

Do you like mustard? sometimes

Do you look like your mom or dad? neither. I am adopted. However, I do look like my birth mother. At least how she used to look.

How long does it take you in the shower? 5 minutes

Can you do the splits? nope, not even close, not even in the same county as the splits. Never have been able to. No flexibility.

What movie do you want to see right now? I have a huge list.  Next one up is "Up"

What did you do for New Year's? I don't remember

Do you think The Grudge was scary? Never heard of it

Do you own a camera phone? yes, not just that, an IIII phone. :-)

How many hours of sleep do you get a night? at the present time I am lucky if I get 4

What do you buy at the movies? popcorn and pop

Do you know how to play poker? in theory. :-) However, I am not good at it at all.

Do you wear your seat belt? Yes, always. well, always in the car. Sometimes I wish I had one for the chairs at home, too, especially when I inexplicably fall off. 

How many meals do you eat a day? 3

Do you like funny or serious people better? I like both, but am usually drawn to funny people with a serious side.

Ever been to L.A.? yes...many a time

Did you eat a cookie today? yes

Do you hate chocolate? nope. I have a healthy like for chocolate.

Thankful Thursday 2-19-09

This has been another rough week. When I have a rough week, I really like taking time to thank God for EVERYTHING he has done! He is AWE-SOME all the time. And I am in AWE of Him!

I am thankful for God in my life. All the time. Everyday. No matter where I am. No matter who I am with.

I am thankful that I am covered by the Blood of Jesus, no matter what!

I am thankful that God is the same: yesterday, today and forever!

I am thankful that I have a personal relationship with God and don't have to rely on anyone else to be in God's grace or His perfect will.

I am thankful that I hear my Father's voice and the voice of another I WILL NOT follow!

I am thankful for a husband that works really hard for us and for his job. I am thankful he is patient with me and my foibles.

I am thankful for my children and all their wonderful, wacky ways.

I am thankful to my friends. Especially friends who help me to "see the Light" and remember the important things! Like, "I am not on my way to hell!" LOL! (sorry, little private joke there) and many of the other things I wrote above about God.

I am thankful for my best friend's new pregnancy!! That was the Highlight of my week!!!

I am thankful to my niece who is the most awesomest niece in the whole wide world.

I am thankful for my not-so-secret sister (from Ravelry), who I love dearly and love getting to know.

And I am thankful for my "Pampered Chef lady" who just so happens to be one of my most dearest friends and is just absolutely awesome.

On a purely selfish note, I am thankful that I hit $500 for my Pampered Chef party so I get lots of free product!! :-)

Christmas meme

I saw this on my friend Danielle's page and, although I've done it before, I wanted to do it again! I love reading other people's answers too!


1. Eggnog or Hot chocolate? both

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? he never wraps them here.

3. Colored lights on house/tree or white? Colored on our tree. none on our house this year.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? there is some in nearby trees!

5. When do you put your decorations up? We try to do it the weekend after Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Cranberry Salad

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child? Christmas in California with it warm outside. Not really favorite memory, but a memory, nonetheless.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I have always known Santa is awesome!

9. So do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? usually

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? special ornaments that the children have made, friends have made or special ornaments that have been given to us. It looks very eclectic but it is very special.

11. Snow. Love it or dread it? Love love love it.

12. Can you ice skate? Yes...But it has been a very long time.

14. What is the most important thing about the holidays for you? Remembering not only the birth of Jesus, but what he lived and died for.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? wow, I like a lot of them. Going to Rhema to see the lights, driving around looking at lights, our nativities that the kids play with, singing Carols with the kids, making Christmas cookies and decorating them on Christmas eve.

19. What is you favorite Christmas song? Little drummer Boy, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Joy to the World

25. Who do you normally spend Christmas with? Our family celebrates in the morning by ourselves and then we are going to my mother-in-laws to celebrate with hubby's extended family. It is different every year.

FOR 22 December 08

Outside my window... it is bright and shiny. Unfortunately it is only 15 degrees with a windchill of 4.


I am thinking... how blessed we are. Hubby is home recovering from surgery, everyone is able to be home together. We are warm, cozy and full of love! Four of us are also having symptoms of sickness so we are standing on our healing!


I am thankful for... Jesus. Not just the baby in the manger. But the man who died on the cross 33 years later.


From the learning rooms... still closed. Jesse Tree is suspended due to stress. Trying to read Christmas stories every day.


From the kitchen... red beans and rice for lunch, chicken and wild rice for lunch (guess it's gonna be a ricey day)


I am wearing... capri sweatpants and a blue sweatshirt with flowers


I am creating... Emily's Christmas present and finishing up Britty's present. Also making my friends' presents.


I am going... to drop off a trach aspirate (don't ask what that is, you don't want to know) at Kaedra's doctor and picking KD up some Tylenol.


I am reading... A Sounding Brass by Shelley Bates and Spiritual Authority by Watchman Nee. I am reading Spiritual Authority with Brody from church.


I am hoping praying... everyone feels better soon! I also have a good friend who traveled out of town for a house closing. I am praying they have favor and that they have everything they need when they need it and that everything goes smoothly!


I am hearing... three children crying!?!?


Around the house... Brittany is upstairs reading, Ethan is asking for more milk, Kaedra is waiting for my nails to dry to put on her pants, Emily is playing spygirl and Michael is watching court TV. They just got done making a gingerbread house.


One of my favorite things... is purple. Purple anything. OOOH a purple platypus would be cool...


A few plans for the rest of the week: work on projects, church on Wednesday night, Michael's mom's house on Thursday evening. Hopefully some time with Sherria.

Friday Fill-ins #3

1. Friends are blessings in my life each and every day. They are like presents God gives me, each one unique and different and oh-so special. I cherish my friends dearly.

2. Good health; it's becoming a priority for me.

3. I'm ready for whatever the Lord has in store for me!

4. My husband's Hugo is one of my favorite perfumes or aftershaves or smells. In face, when he goes away, he sprays my teddy bear with it, for me.

5. The oldest ornament I have is --wow, I have many old ornaments. I wouldn't even be able to tell you! I inherited all of my grandma's ornaments. I have some really precious ones in there.

6. Take some Kahri and Michael, 4 kids and lots of laughter , mix it all together and you have our home sweet home.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to playing Bunco with my homeschool group, tomorrow my plans include working on Brittany's Christmas present while she is gone and Sunday, I want to go to church twice and enjoy the Children's program and teen skit!

FOR TODAY 8 December 2008...
Outside my window.... dusk, a pretty sunset, swaying trees.

I am thinking... that it's still a long way to bed.

I am thankful for... my kid's getting along and liking each other. For them playing so well together and preferring each other's company and the company of their family.

From the learning rooms... they are closed down for a month, but we are still reading everyday (right now, Max Lucado's An Angel Story), doing crafts, keeping up with Emily's reading and math, exercising, and lots of reading

From the kitchen... roast, potatoes, carrots, and rolls. Still deciding on the veggies

I am wearing... sweats and a long sleeve t-shirt

I am creating... lots of cool presents! I can't wait to get back to them. It is hard to put them down.

I am going... to enjoy tonight with my family playing games and watching a movie with hubby.

I am reading... An Angel's Story by Max Lucado

I am hoping... to be done with presents by next week (for out of towners) so I can send them. Actually this week would be even better! :-)

I am hearing... dog softly growling, Brittany cleaning up, Kaedra and Emily playing, my fingers tapping the keyboard

Around the house... It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Michael is off 3 1/2 days before Sunday!! How awesome is that? So I plan to spend lots of time with him! I think we are going to go look at the lights at Rhema, drive around and see lights, rent some more Christmas movies, play some games, just have a wonderful time with my family

1. Snow is meant for skiing, sledding and playing in.


2. I'm looking forward to where do I start? I am looking forward to everything!! God has great plans for me and I am looking forward to walking them out!

6. The most enjoyable thing around the holidays is a whole month to concentrate on giving.
