New use for our globe

Another Ethan funny (he is full of funniness!)

After he saw Daddy mowing the lawn, he wanted in on the action. Pretty soon we saw him zooming around the house with this:

He was rather hard to catch! I guess he has a rocket propelled mower!

Little Chef in the making

So Ethan has a way of not taking "no" for an answer. I told him he would have to wait until lunchtime for someone to make him a pb&j sandwich. Well, that wasn't good enough for him. A few minutes later I heard some things being moved around and saw this:

on closer inspection:

needs to work on his coverage a little, don't ya think?

and maybe his cutting....

Well, at least he can take care of himself! :-)

Because their little armpits get so sweaty...

Brittany was getting ready for church camp this weekend and checking her list to make sure she got all her stuff. She came downstairs and, as she passed by, said "I need some bug deoderant."

After I picked myself up off the ground from laughing, I gave her a hard time for the rest of the day!

"Are they stinky or just sweaty?"

"How are you going to lift up their little arms?"

"Do they know they need deoderant, or do you just think they smell?"

When I dropped her off for camp, I MADE SURE to tell her counselor. I wanted Britty to feel right at home, so her counselor promised to give her a hard time for the duration of the trip. Isn't it good to know she won't be homesick. ;-)

Wee!!

A couple of weeks ago at church, I took Ethan to the nursery to feed him. While in there, he tinkled all down the front of me. I was wearing a light colored dress so it was quite noticeable. As it was the beginning of the service and because we live so close, I decided to go home really quick and change. I asked a friend of mine to go ask Michael for the keys. She went into the service and quietly explained to Michael why I needed them. Not too long later, I came back to church a little fresher.

We have a family that is fairly new at our church that just moved here from England to go to Rhema Bible College. The mother had been sitting next to Michael when my friend asked him for the keys. After the service, she approached me and said,
"I hear you were baptized today!"
Having already forgotten about my little excursion, I looked at her questioningly.
"In WEE!" she said.

In wee, indeed.
(This is a story you will never live down, little man. We might have forgotten it, but you can thank a cute lady with a great accent for making it more all the more memorable.)

If only I could

So I was in the den feeding Ethan and Michael was in the kitchen, blending Kaedy's food for the next 24 hours. Now we have a wonderful new high-powered blender that can do many things but one thing it can't do is blend quietly. Therefore I was very suprised to see Michael pouring the food into the jars.
"You already blended it up?" I asked.
"Yup," he replied.
Emily came into the den to check into this.
"You didn't hear him blend it up?"
"Nope," I said. "I didn't hear a thing."
She got a whimsical expression on her face and said,
"Maybe your ears came unplugged!"

funny thoughts

(this will be more amusing if you are a nascar fan)

the other night I was half asleep, lying in bed, somewhere between 1am and 5am. I was in that state where you are awake enough to know what is going on, but you are sort of dreaming at the same time. Ethan was wanting to nurse and I started to hear voices in my head:

Rusty Wallace: Well I don't know if this is the right move for him.

Darrell Waltrip: No, Rusty, I'm not sure it is either. None of the other drivers are coming in to nurse right now. I think he is really going to lose his track position with this decision.

RW: Yeah, I heard his crew chief telling him it's not a good idea, but he's not listening.

DW: No, it seems that he is determined. Well, folks, it looks like Ethan Michael has decided to nurse and I guess he is not worried about losing his position. My guess, he thinks he can make it up later....

voices fade out...

Breaking my water (closet)

So the other day, I was talking to my friend Tarry on the phone about how I am waiting for my water to break. The girls were in the room with me and, no doubt, overheard the whole conversation. A few minutes later, Emily kept trying to tell me something. I have been trying to teach her not to interrupt me when I am on the phone unless it is an emergency (aka BLOOD) so I kept shhhing her. She finally went over to Brittany and I overheard "I threw a quarter in the potty." THAT got my attention. I asked her to come over and tell me what she did. She said "I threw a quarter in the potty to try to break your water so you can have Ethan today." Up until this point, apparently "my water" was the toilet to her!!! I tried to tell her, very sweetly, thank you, but that wouldn't work but she broke down in tears. I had to hang up with Tarry and love on my sweet little misguided girl.

As a side note, I did take her to a couple of internet pages and show her the bag of waters that Ethan was surrounded in. She understands a lot better now! LOL

Speaking of breaking my water.... My hubby asked me the funniest thing the other day. He said, "are you SURE you can't have the baby without your water breaking first?" (it was the night he was worried Ethan would just end up in bed with us)

Apparently my family needs some good old fashioned lessons on baby birthing around here! (HEATHER!!! WHERE ARE YOU??? LOL)

Medically warped child

For Christmas this year Emily asked Santa for a babydoll with a trach, vent, suction machine and "all the things a real baby needs." Poor Santa just looked at me, very confused! LOL

Also, we were at McDonalds today and Emily got a happy meal. In the happy meal they are giving away these little alien things called an "Iz". She was showing Britty how to play with it and she said "you just push on the mickey button to make it light up and play music." (Kaedra has a "mickey button" in her tummy where we feed her)

Poor Emily, all her points of reference revolve around medical stuff!

Christmas Survey

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? I agree with Brandi...Eggnog for Christmas, Hot Chocolate for camping. :-) (or snow days!)

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree? Santa usually leaves his presents on the fireplace or on the coffee table. I guess he doesn't have time to wrap ours! Or maybe he knows my kids loving seeing them as soon as they get downstairs. :-)

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? On house: All white! (sorry Brandi) I don't like anything blinking on houses. I do like the large one-color colored lights around the edge of the house with hanging white icicle lights...that's pretty. On tree: we just recently switched to colored lights. I don't mind blinking lights on trees, but not chasing lights and I don't like the ones that a whole strand blinks at once.

4. Do you hang mistletoe, and where do you get it? In Oklahoma, there is misteltoe (real, living mistletoe) in about every third tree, so we don't need to hang it in the house! LOL

5. When do you put your decorations up? We try for the day after Thanksgiving, but it depends on the weather, too, and what else is going on.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Cranberry Salad

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: none

8. When did you learn the truth about Santa? the truth? I believe in Santa! :-)

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? it is not a tradition, but we have done it. In fact, last year we opened all the out of town gifts on Christmas Eve. This year we probably won't because we have church on Christmas eve night (as well as morning) and on Sundays we are usually exhausted by the time we get home!

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? The girls and I put up the tree while Michael is at work. Brittany and I put up the lights. When Michael gets home we put on the ornaments. I have the boxes numbered in order of what ornaments get put on first. (CO1 - first up, CO2 - second up, etc) We have so many ornaments (and we get more every year) that we have to prioritize! we put up handmade and personalized first, then special ones given by friends that aren't handmade or personalized, then, any remaining ones. We usually talk about our memories of each one as well.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it!

12. Can you ice skate? Is this asking if I can stay in an upright position on skates? Maybe for 5 minutes at a time!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? no

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? spending the Christmas season remembering the "reason for the season" and making memories with my hubby and kids!

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? egg nog ice cream

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Church on Christmas Eve and walking through the lights at Rhema.

17. What tops your tree? An angel. All her lights died, though, so we are looking for a replacement!

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? giving

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Little Drummer Boy (by Bob Seger)

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? I like them in small increments. :-)

a Halloween joke for you!

A man was walking home alone late one foggy night, when behind him he hears:

BUMP...

BUMP...

BUMP...

Walking faster, he looks back and through the fog he makes out the image of an upright casket banging its way down the middle of the street toward him.

BUMP...

BUMP...

BUMP...

Terrified, the man begins to run toward his home, the casket bouncing quickly behind him

FASTER..

FASTER...

BUMP...

BUMP...

BUMP...

He runs up to his door, fumbles with his keys, opens the door, rushes in, slams and locks the door behind him.

However, the casket crashes through his door, with the lid of the casket clapping

clappity-BUMP...

clappity-BUMP...

clappity-BUMP...

on his heels, the terrified man runs.

Rushing upstairs to the bathroom, the man locks himself in. His heart is pounding; his head is reeling; his breath is coming in sobbing gasps.

With a loud CRASH the casket breaks down the door.

Bumping and clapping toward him.

The man screams and reaches for something, anything, but all he can find is a bottle of Vicks formula 44 cough syrup!

Desperate, he throws the cough syrup at the casket...

and,

(hopefully you're really ready for this!!!)

The coffin stops!!!!

Easier way to get child??

Since this pregnancy has not been a "walk in the park" in terms of fun, I am excited to see that there is maybe another way I could get a little boy.....

Unfortunately, I am not very good at these "claw" games, so maybe it wouldn't actually be easier....lol

(btw, you can click on the pic to read the story...which was actually terrifying for the grandma)

ACK! They're BACK!

This is one of those fashions that should have quietly disappeared. Don't get me wrong, I wore them all the time in the 80s and who knows, maybe I will have a pair in a year or two...(ya never know...) but I will HAVE TO laugh at myself!

overheard at our house

Emily: "so what about that guy that supplies all of our needs?"

Mommy: "God?"

Emily: "no, the other one."

Mommy: "Jesus?"

Emily: "No! (exasperated) you know, that guy that comes when Daddy isn't here and gives us everything we want!!"

Mommy, Daddy and Brittany: rolling on the floor laughing (luckily Daddy knows he doesn't have to worry!!!)

Anyway, she was talking about Kent, the Respiratory Therapist that comes out once a week and brings Kaedra's supplies. However, he will henceforth be known as: that guy that comes when Daddy isn't here and gives us everything we want!!

Insane? or in Christ?

Emily says our meal-time prayers. The other day she got done praying over the food and was ending with:

"And please make sure Mommy isn't insane, and Daddy isn't insane and Brittany isn't insane."

We were all trying our best not to laugh (she gets very hurt when we laugh at her prayers)A few minutes later, while eating, I tried to casually bring it up:
"So, Emmy, where did you learn the word insane?"

She had NO CLUE what I was talking about! "Insane? I don't know that word!"
So I asked her what she had been praying about.
She looked at me as if I was crazy and said:
"I was praying that you wouldn't be in SATAN! Y'know? You should always be In Christ!" Well of course!!

At this point we all busted out laughing and had to apologize profusely for hurting her feelings. I think we were all just so relieved that she wasn't worried about us being insane!
