Susan wrote a really great post with her blog categories. I decided to follow suit because mine are slightly different.
Blogs I read to keep in touch:
these are mostly the friends I had PB (pre blogging) but also include a few new ones. I like hearing about their day by day antics and seeing what's going on in their lives.
Blogs I read for utilitarian ideas:
these are blogs that give me ideas on running my day to day life...housekeeping, organizing, large families, etc.
Blogs I read that inspire me:
these are the blogs that constantly lead me back to God and/or make me think
Blogs that I read just because I like their writing:
these blogs are written by great writers. As I told one of them, they could write about getting the flu and make it entertaining and inspiring.
Of course many blogs are in more than one category, a few of the ones I read are in all.
And then there is, of course, the category of blogs I don't read. LOL! Those fall into a two sub-categories. Those I don't read on purpose: un-Godly, whiny, political or based on some subject that I am not interested in; and those I haven't discovered yet. ;-)
I figured out the reason I like reading blogs so much. It's like getting to read your favorite magazine with your favorite authors and it's new Every Day! As I go through my bloglines on any given day I get articles on all sorts of subjects, recipes, book and movie reviews, poetry, current events, opinion pieces and even humor. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you to all my favorite authors who make each issue a priceless gift!
Appreciated your take and view on this subject. Really like your new family picture and all of you in green. Cool!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI struggled with blog categories when I first switched over from HSB to Blogger and came up with the ones I did...only two of course.
I love that you've categorized yours into so many different categories. It's brillian!
Of course, after the garage post -- I'd think the way you butter toast was perfect. *L*
I really like the way you have your blog now. And I don't think the banner is too big! Banners are supposed to be big! The only thing that I wasn't sure about is the spot for current prayers, recently answered prayers and your blogs that you like. But I decided that I like it. It had to grow on me! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou have a good blogging system! I like your categories. =o)
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking and thinking about this post...so I wanted to come back to it and comment here.
ReplyDeleteI just love your comparison to "your favorite magazine" and I wanted you to know. Matter of fact, I gave up the Drudge report for blog reading. ;-)
My favorite blogs really are like good magazines..and every now and again, I go out and look at others. Just like standing at the Barnes & Noble or Borders magazine racks.
LOVE it and will quote you in an upcoming post.
